Curriculum Based School Program

Touring our museum is an educational experience for people of any age. Billy Bishop is recognized as a war hero locally, nationally and internationally. His life prior, during and after his military service is experienced as visitor’s tour his childhood home. Visitors will be made aware of the courage and sacrifices made by Bishop and other local and national men and women who served in the wars. The museum experience will help participants realize the continued freedom and democracy we enjoy today is because of these veterans’ contributions.

Through curriculum-based materials, the Billy Bishop Museum School Program will assist schools in a concrete, practical context through a museum experience, and learning activities, to develop students’ skills, strategies, and habits of mind required for effective inquiry and communication. Students will utilize oral and written language, math and artistic mediums as they study:

  • Heritage and Traditions (Remembrance Day)
  • Historical Transportation (Aviation)
  • Victorian home and architecture
  • WWI and WWII History

Other tools incorporated into programs will build:

  • Mapping skills
  • Research skills
  • Computer/internet skills
  • Media Works
